What we do
Raising hope Centre works closely with the vulnerable refugees, women and the youth to develop life skills and empower them in overcoming social, economic and environmental challenges.
The smartest way to solve the world’s toughest challenges is by investing in the youth and livelihood programs. Through our work, we are ensuring that more are empowered and live fulfilling lives.
Raising Hope Centre, have structured its programs into three main pillars that align with its mission and vision. These three main programs could focus on:
1. Economic Empowerment and Skills Development
This program focuses on building economic self-reliance for refugees, marginalized communities, and the urban poor. It includes;
- Vocational Training: Offering skills training in areas such as sewing, tailoring, hairdressing, beauty therapy, and entrepreneurship to provide individuals with the necessary tools to gain employment or start their own businesses.
- Entrepreneurship Support: Providing training in business management, financial literacy, and marketing to help individuals develop sustainable livelihoods.
- Job Placement and Apprenticeships: Partnering with local businesses to create job opportunities and apprenticeships that help beneficiaries gain practical, hands-on experience.
Goal: To empower individuals to become economically independent and contribute to the community’s growth.
2. Youth and Education Support
This program focuses on building economic self-reliance for refugees, marginalized communities, and the urban poor. It includes;
- Education Support: Providing financial assistance for school fees, educational materials, and mentorship to children from vulnerable backgrounds.
- After-School Tutoring: we offer academic support to children and youth in core subjects and vocational skills to help them stay in school and progress.
- Youth Empowerment and Mentorship: we organizing mentorship programs that provide guidance in personal development, career growth, and leadership skills.
Goal: To ensure that youth have access to quality education and personal development, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.
3. Community Wellbeing and Advocacy
This program aims to enhance the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of vulnerable individuals and foster a more inclusive community. It includes:
- Food Security and Health Initiatives: Organizing food drives, nutrition programs, and mental health support, including counseling and trauma recovery services for refugees and marginalized populations.
- Cultural Integration and Social Cohesion: Promoting cultural exchange, organizing community forums, and providing language classes to enhance integration and understanding among refugees and the host community.
- Advocacy and Human Rights Education: Raising awareness about the rights of refugees and marginalized individuals and advocating for policy changes that promote inclusivity and protection.
Goal: To improve community health, strengthen social bonds, and advocate for the rights and dignity of vulnerable populations.
These three programs—Economic Empowerment and Skills Development, Youth and Education Support, and Community Wellbeing and Advocacy—form a cohesive and holistic approach to address the various challenges faced by vulnerable communities, with a focus on building resilience, self-reliance, and social cohesion.
